Last filming

On our last day of filming we couldn't follow the plan because by using animation we couldn't get the angle right and had to change certain scenes and make it longer because it was only 40 seconds long.
We kept the same storyline but we added in a shot-reverse-shot so it wouldn't look as jumpy and flowed more. As we haven't made it long enough we will have to stretch certain parts of it.

Analyasis of credits (Scarlett)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHr_oSk57kQ

The video clip is of the opening credits of the film 'The Others'
The first shot is of what looks like a sunset. However it is hard to make out as there is a flickering light, which resembles candle light, this could be to set the scene and show that the film is set in the olden days. Also sepia is used there is no other colours almost like an old picture again fitting in with the idea.
Some of the pictures are quiet disturbing for example one of what looks like a puppet hanging. This fits with the story of the film at first it is happy and good (sunset) then thing start to twist and become more sinister (the doll). It gives an insight into what the film is about.

The font looks old fashioned and formal. This gives us an impression on maybe the family in the film and the time it is set in.

The music is really mysterious and sets an eerie mood for the audience and might make them maybe a bit anxious about watching the film as it looks quiet scary.

First filming

In today's lesson we drew and coloured in the background, and set them up.

We also managed to film the establishing shot of the island and the first meeting of the main character 'Adam' who is lying on the sand.
We found it really hard to get the zoom right as it was too fast and also the camera is very sensitive and it is hard to match it to the overlay.

Next lesson we plan to finish off the filming and add music and credits

Garage Band

We have been researching sounds to use for our opening sequence. What we made is very upbeat we have layered lots of organ sounds and a drum kit over the top. Island Reggae organ 01-05 and funky pop drum 01. This is a good sound for our opening shot as we want the children to feel happy as they watch and it sets off with a happy atmosphere.

Story board for our final idea

These are our storyboard for our final idea. It shows the first two minutes of our sequence with pictures of what we hope it will look like. It describes shot type and duration so when w62e2 film we 6can follow the story board.

Final Ideas

Timeline

This is a timeline explaining whats going to happen every 20 seconds. It has the two minutes of our opening and it includes what is happening, music and where the credits are going.
(Characters/Narrative/Sets)
-How does it meet the conventions of a children's opening sequence

FINAL IDEAS
4 children on an adventure

A child (Adam) opens his eyes and doesn't know where he is. He can hear children playing so he gets up and follows the sound. On his way he sees a map buried in the sand, so he picks it up and is excitedly studying it. However he is unaware that the other 3 (Scott,Alice and Jake) have spotted him and go over to see hat he is fussing about. They see he has the map that they had lost and make 'friends' with him, in order to eventually steal the map. They decide to go on a treasure hunt and find the treasure.

Our Own Conventions

We are going to use happy, cheerful music to set the mood and get the audience excited.

We have a range of 4 characters with different personality's, this gives the children a chance to relate with one of them and have a favorite character.

Our genre is adventure, so we are going to use brightly coloured backgrounds, which will be eye catching, and works with the children's imagination of a place they might have imagined like a paradise.

We as group are going to be the voices, as we can make them friendly and they sound more genuine and realistic .

Storyboard

Our task was to draw a storyboard based on the opening sequence of 'Back to the future'.
We were all assigned a different aspect of the storyboard
Scarlett did mise-en-scene
Kate did sound
Maria did camera movement
and we all did character positions

We used all of the aspects to decide what were the main points of the beginning to put in our storyboard. This was useful as it will help us for our own children's film.

Fantastic Mr. Fox

Fantastic Mr Fox:
It uses similar type of animation that we are using. It is effective because you can make something happen that you couldn't do if you were using real people. Also with live action you have to either create a set or find somewhere to film that has the kind of scenery you want, whereas with IStopMotion all you have to do is draw the set.

Analysis
This is the clip that we watched and analyzed, picking out key conventions for children's film.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2igjYFojUo

The film attracts children as it uses animals, which children can relate to and like and it brings the fiction element to it. The bright colours also attract the children. It has slapstick comedy for the children but also word play comedy which would appeal to teenagers and adults. This makes it likely children will go watch it because their parents wont mind taking them.

As it is a film made from a book teenagers are more likely to go and watch it as lots of them will have read this when they were little children.

The actors in the film will also strongly attract an older audiences. It has some well known celebrities in it such as Meryl Streep and George Clooney, which are admired by an older audience. Although children wont appreciate the actors in it they will still want to see the film as it has other conventions that attract them.

The music in the trailer is upbeat but changes as the mood changes. This shows the viewers that it has more to it than just a comedy adventure. The voice over the top of the trailer sounds welcoming and friendly, something that children would want of a narrator.
